Getting ready to press ‘RESTART’

Its a long road but we will get there.

Save the date: September 25th & 26th; Malvern Autumn Show

With the announcement that Malvern RHS Spring Garden Show is cancelled, Worcestershire Guild CC is now setting sights firmly on Malvern Autumn Show for our first ‘show within show’.

And looking further ahead to our own CraftWorks Contemporary Craft Show in November.

That doesn’t mean there wont be a chance to see at least some of our individual artisans before then!
Usually, quite a few participate in the selling exhibitions during The Three Choirs Festival, due to be staged in Worcester this year, at the end of July. And many participate in Herefordshire Art Week in early September.
More news & dates when available.
Others will be at smaller events so check out individual member websites.

Until then you can shop online with www.WGCC.shopguild – or use the tab at the top of the page. Some members also have there own ecommerce websites or use other online stores – again, check their websites.

You may have noticed that there is a huge upsurge with online art and craft activity from buying events to video ‘lessons’ – no doubt about it, the internet has been a lifeline for many over the last 12 months. And research suggests that participating in a creative activity is highly beneficial to mental wellbeing.

As a Craft Guild we love to encourage both new crafts and crafters; some may take it forward and become masters (the next generation?) for others it will mean a new hobby and some will just enjoy the benefits of being creative and trying many different disciplines.
Some of our makers run workshops in ‘normal’ times such as Basket Maker Jenny Pearce, Batik Artist Marie-Therese King and our master Rag Rug Maker, Jenni Stuart-Anderson.  Booking onto a workshop for the future, or perhaps giving as a gift voucher is something to look forward to when its safe again. Contact the artist for details.
Jenni also sells Kits, specialist Tools & her Books; here’s a snippet from her video to wet your apetite. And Textile Wire Artist Jo Dewar sells fab kits to get you started with wire.
Usually tailored towards complete beginners, kits & workshops are a perfect way to try a craft!

Of course, there is nothing like being able to meet you and greet you personally at live events, so roll-on that day.
Stay safe & well.
